The Chant

Well, for those of you who don’t know, the word “Chant” comes from the French “Chanter” (to sing). It’s something sung in unison by a crowd or in this case a congregation of about 30 people of all ages and one dog. Please note that the dog didn’t sing.

As Archdeacon Robert (Robert Jones, Archdeacon of Worcester) is soon to retire we were honored to have a master class in “The Chant” run by him. Not only did he lead the singing he also provided the history behind the many different forms of The Chant. It’s quite amazing where some of this music originated from and how the different tones can capture the moment.
